Deadline for Submission is Friday, January 27, 2012

The inaugural Gasparilla Music Festival will take place the weekend of March 10th and 11th with a wide variety of bands playing in Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park in downtown Tampa. Subject matter is open, but the committee asks that the theme is music-based.

GMF will present a diverse array of musical styles including indie rock, world music, jazz, Americana, bluegrass, blues, folk, gospel, reggae and other alternative music.

  • Poster size 24”x18” (vertical or horizontal)
  • Consider including text elements such as: “Gasparilla Music Festival”, “March 10th and 11th 2012”, www.gasparillamusicfestival.com”
  • Preferred format for submission is print-ready PDF
  • Selected designer will receive an honorarium of $200.00
  • Chosen design will appear on posters and may be incorporated into other marketing items, such as event website and flyers, and artist will be credited.
  • Selected design may be sold in a live or silent auction to benefit Gasparilla Music Festival, a nonprofit organization, and a percentage of proceeds will go back to the artist.

The purpose of the Gasparilla Music Festival is to nurture and promote the cultural life of Tampa by presenting a spectacular range of inspiring local and national musicians and performers across a wide range of genres that leads to greater music awareness, education and the continuance of the urban renewal of Tampa. Our intent is to utilize the shared, powerful experience of live music to sustain, inspire and encourage a stronger sense of community amongst the diverse elements of Tampa, while embracing Tampa’s heritage and natural beauty.

Barbara Bailey Hutchison 2012 Concert

Grammy Award winner, Barbara Bailey Hutchison, returns to Center Place on Saturday January 28th, 2012 for a music concert you will not want to miss!

This Grammy Award winning entertainer has recorded 17 CDs and performed at The White House three times. A national magazine poll voted her “Best Solo Performer”, Best Acoustic Performer”, and” Best Female Entertainer”.

Her Adult/General Audience Concert is engaging, classy and fun. With a guitar, a piano, an amazing voice, great songs, and a wonderful sense of humor, Barbara Bailey Hutchison has charmed audiences across the country, and around the world for over 20 years.

Her performance is a joint fundraiser for both GBAC and Center Place. There will be appetizers and drinks before and after the concert. Doors open at 7pm. Tickets are $20 per person and can be purchased at Center Place. Bring a friend.

December Exhibition: Journey

The featured artist for December 2011 at Center Place is Diamari Christensen. Her exhibit is titled “Journey”. There will be an artist reception on Thursday evening, Dec 8th, 2011 from 5:30pm to 8:00pm.

Diamari  was born and raised in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Taking  after her dad, she loved drawing and painting since her childhood years and found her most precious inspirational delight in dreams, surroundings and everyday experiences. She studied  her bachelors of fine arts at the University of Puerto Rico.

GBAC Brush Strokes Awards Wrapup

What a successful evening it was! Those who were there, thank you for coming and making it “work”! Those of you who missed it, you missed a great evening with good food and great camaderie among the guests, recipients and others.
